WEEK 2: CAKE WEEK

Cake week started with Ruth earning her second Peter Pat on the Back for her Boozy Battenberg and Crystelle earned her first Peter Pat on the Back for her surprising Banoffee Birth-enberg. Ali struggled with the alcohol content in his Lime and Gin Battenberg and Sue's cut finger bleeding into her batter made her Basic Battenberg inedible.

The Technical this week was set by Victoria who charged the bakers with making 24 identical Red Velvet Cake Pops with a Lemon and White Chocolate Shell. Crystelle narrowly edged out Ruth for the top spot while Brendan entered dangerous territory when he ended up making 24 Lemon Cake Pops with Red Velvet Shell. Sue's Cake Pops proved to be the best shade of Red but were too salty to be enjoyed.

In the Showstopper, Crystelle's Rum Plum Pumpkin Patch clinched her the Star Baker title. Kate B, Kate H and Amelia all made very similar versions of a Classic Carrot Cake. Ruth's Unleavened Lava Cake proved her undoing as her oven short circuited in the middle of the bake leaving the cake mostly raw.

Opal tripped over an electrical cord which left half of the refrigerators unplugged for most of the bake. Ben and Pat seem to have made peace with each other and this week's time calls were split evening among the hosts. Tom had a bit of trouble drawing Crystelle's Banoffee Birth-enberg as the concept was not one he was familiar with. Terry was soundly berated by Luis after Dana was caught on camera several times.
